Environment

The surroundings of the hotel

Terrace, garden, sauna, communal lounge, bar and barbecue facilities – you will find a selection of ways to relax right on site. But the region around Regensburg has so much more to offer.

A visit to the World Heritage city of Regensburg is a must for the perfect stay. It is considered the best-preserved medieval city and has a unique charm.

The region around Regensburg offers its visitors an outstanding variety of landscapes and invites you to enjoy the fresh air and nature!

The Regensburg region welcomes you with rocky valleys, the Bavarian Forest and numerous bathing lakes. Discover romantic palaces and castles, go cycling and hiking or take a trip to Walhalla.

Sustainability

Environmental protection

We attach great importance to sustainability and run our hotel in harmony with the environment. The Donaustauf – Regensburg region has a lot to offer, so your stay can be a healthy and wonderful, relaxing vacation.

Environmental protection

We reduce sealed surfaces. In the event of heavy rainfall, run-off water is not channelled into the sewage system, but remains on the near-natural areas and in cisterns, from where it can slowly seep away – to support the natural water cycle.

Regionality

The honey at the buffet is carefully processed from our own 12 bee colonies. The baked goods are made by hand every day in the neighboring village. Beers at the bar come from breweries around the corner and the jam from grandma – quality you can taste!

Construction method

Sustainable construction is standard for us, for the benefit of people and the environment. We use tried and tested building materials – brick, wood, clay, natural stone and cotton. If the hotel is dismantled at some point, 99% of the building materials can be recycled.

Employee voices

Gesa
“Working at the Walhalla Hotel is definitely characterized by diverse and exciting tasks. The managers are friendly and genuinely committed to treating all employees fairly and fulfilling their requests whenever possible—especially when it comes to work schedules and vacation time. Of course, it’s clear that this isn’t always fully possible at a small hotel. The salary is very fair and compares favorably within the industry.”
Cora
– No one is looked down on; everyone is valued equally – Everyone respects one another, especially among the staff – Problems can always be brought up, and every effort is made to resolve them – Suggestions for improving the hotel are welcomed and usually put into practice

What I appreciate about my work is that there are clear guidelines, but still room for my own ideas and suggestions for improvement. You are perceived as an individual with your own personality, with your own strengths and weaknesses, and your expressed needs (e.g. time off on a certain day) are taken into consideration. It is also great that the WalhallaHotel team works hand in hand, overcoming language barriers, constantly exchanging ideas and helping everyone where necessary and possible. It is particularly noteworthy that sustainability is practiced in all areas (no superfluous packaging, natural materials in the room furnishings) without compromising on quality. Guests are very aware of this and are enthusiastic about getting on board, almost always decide for themselves not to have bed linen and towels replaced after a single use and are pleased that all breakfast products are served in washable containers. Honey from the family's own apiary and grandma's homemade jams are highly valued. And I am delighted that so much emphasis is placed on cleanliness and hygiene and that guests can immerse themselves in a soothing, relaxing atmosphere.

It's an extremely varied working day, which is made even better by the many satisfied guests. You realize how much they appreciate the work you do. You also get this feeling from the hotel manager, who works with you every day and has a solution or a tip up his sleeve for every problem.
