Tegernheim

The Hotel @ Hoeferer is located just outside Regensburg in Tegernheim. Regensburg

The Hotel @ Hoeferer is located in the municipality of Tegernheim just outside Regensburg. The UNESCO World Heritage city of Regensburg can be reached by bus, car or bicycle in just a few minutes.

The historic old town of Regensburg with its countless narrow alleyways, fountains, patrician towers and impressive town houses quickly captivates visitors. Highlights certainly include St. Peter’s Cathedral, the stone bridge, the Roman gate Porta Praetoria and the Thurn & Taxis Palace. www.regensburg.de

Doanustauf

The neighboring town of Donaustauf is 3 km down the Danube, also on the Danube Cycle Path. Like many other tourists, cyclists are sure to take their next break at the world-famous Walhalla and visit one of the most important German national monuments of the 19th century. The classicist temple building with its striking columns towers over the Danube and houses marble busts of important historical figures inside.

Donaustauf is also known beyond the region’s borders for Klaus Eder. The world-renowned physiotherapist of famous sports stars, including the German national soccer team, runs a rehabilitation clinic for sports and accident injuries in Donaustauf. (www.eden-reha.de). Patients’ families like to use the local hotels to stay overnight near the clinic when they visit.

BAVARIAN FOREST

The Bavarian Forest covers an area of around 6,000 square kilometers between the Danube in the west, the Czech Republic in the east and Austria in the south. As a unique example of ecology and sustainability, the so-called “Green Roof of Europe” preserves a precious piece of wilderness and provides a home for almost extinct animal species in Germany’s oldest national park.
